ARTISTE PEINTRE/ Fine Art

I was born in the village of Messines, Quebec, the tenth of eleven children. There was little room at our table for art and brushes but, encouraged by my family and my friends, I took up painting after a career in the public service. 

I paint what I love to experience: mountains and landscapes; trees and water; and beautiful flowers and shrubs arranged by nature and, sometimes, human hands. I especially like playing with bright colour schemes and intriguing textures to make my art stand out and hopefully reflect an ability to create visual impact on the viewer.  I bring my paintings to life through my personal interpretation and style.

I have many people to thank for their coaching and inspiration: Gordon Harrison, Philip Craig, Sarah Mary Lacy, Bob Grant, Richard Robinson in NZ, Brian Buckrell, Dominik Modlinski, Linda Lovisa, Elvi Edwards, Denise Guillemette, Sheila Davis, the Ottawa School of Art and the Virtual Art Academy Online Campus.

My work has appeared in and around Ottawa: at the Gordon Harrison Canadian Landscape Gallery, Koyman Gallery, the Manotick Art Association Exhibits, the Manotick Art Gallery and Framing, and the Ottawa Little Theatre. 

I am a member of the Arts Visuels (AVG) of Gatineau, Quebec as well as the Manotick Art Association (Manotick, Ontario). My home studio is in Gatineau (Aylmer), Quebec.
